Shawn and his crew redid the floors and stairs in our home and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! The house came with laminate and carpet that we weren't a fan of so we had LVP installed and love the results! They took care of everything and worked quickly, all I had to do was pick out what floor I wanted and the rest was covered!

Shawn has great communication and reasonable prices. His crew came on time and got the job done in two of my bedrooms in timely manner. The crew cleaned up and the wood floor looked great. Would recommend.

Why Houston floors fail

It’s almost never the floor.

When a floor cups, peaks, buckles, or delaminates two years after it went down, the homeowner blames the material. Nearly every time, the material was fine. What failed was the preparation.

Slab-on-grade foundations across Montgomery and Harris County push moisture vapor up through the concrete year-round. Older slabs were poured without a vapor barrier at all. If nobody tests that slab before the adhesive goes down, the floor is on a clock from day one — and no manufacturer will warranty it.

Testing a slab costs us an hour. Replacing a failed floor costs you the whole job again.

Get your floor looked at properly
01

Test before we quote

Calcium chloride or in-situ RH readings on the slab, plus a moisture meter on any wood subfloor. The numbers decide the install method — not the other way around.

02

Flatten what needs flattening

Grinding down high spots and filling low ones. A floating floor over a slab with a half-inch differential will telegraph every bit of it within a year.

03

Mitigate when the readings call for it

Where vapor transmission is above what the adhesive tolerates, a moisture mitigation coating goes down first. We'd rather add a day than warranty a failure.

04

Then install

Correct trowel notch, correct expansion gaps, correct fastener schedule, and stairs and transitions finished to the same standard as the open floor.

Straight answers

The questions we get on every measure.

See all questions
How much does flooring installation cost in the Houston area?

It depends on the material, the square footage, and how much prep your slab needs. Luxury vinyl plank typically runs $5–$9 per square foot installed with materials, tile $10–$20, and engineered hardwood $9–$16. Labor-only rates are lower if you're supplying your own material. Our instant estimate gives you a real range in about a minute, and the final number is confirmed at a free in-home measure.

Do I have to buy the flooring from you?

No. Plenty of our customers buy their material at Floor & Decor or a local supplier and hire us for installation only. We're happy either way, and we'll tell you honestly whether what you picked will work on your slab. If you'd rather we handle sourcing, we can supply the material too.

How long does a typical install take?

A single-room vinyl plank job is usually one day. A whole first floor runs two to four days. Tile takes longer because of mortar and grout cure time, and hardwood refinishing needs three to five days including finish cure. You get a firm schedule at the measure, not a guess.

Do you move the furniture?

Yes, standard furniture is included. Pianos, gun safes, pool tables, and anything else needing specialty equipment we'll quote separately or coordinate with a mover.

Why do so many Houston-area floors fail?

Almost always moisture and prep. Slab-on-grade foundations in this region push vapor up through the concrete, and an installer who skips moisture testing to save an afternoon hands you a floor that cups, peaks, or delaminates within a couple of years. We test every slab before we install and mitigate when the readings call for it.
